Week #21

Learning Log for Week of February 8th - 12th

My favorite thing this week was learning was going to the Norman Rockwell Art Exhibit

It was neat seeing all the different drawings

Homeroom:

This week for homeroom I worked on khan academy.  I worked on my math mission.  I like doing the math online, it's different than my regular math where we have to do worksheets.

Math:

This week in Math I started working on my gamma book.  I did lesson #1 and 2.  I worked on looking at rectangles and finding the area.  Lesson #2 was learning how to multiply by 1 and 0.

English/Language Arts:

As a family we are reading Little House in the Big Woods we read the chapters were Laura slapped Mary when Mary said something unkind and then we read about cousin Charley getting stung by a bunch of bees.  We talked about obedience and how things would have been different if Laura and Charley had obeyed.  We then talked about what obedience means to use and how we can be more obedient. I said I want to work on being listening the first time.

Science:

This week in science we are still working on vertebrates and we starting talking about birds.  We did a bird venn diagram and talked about how birds are like us, unique, and different.  We talked about the different features of birds.  We watched videos on different birds, my favorite was the Lyre Bird that will mimic different sounds in the forest to impress the females.

History/Geography:

We are learning about Japan this month in our country studies.  One of my favorite things is the origami.  We got to make different origami and try out some different foods like sushi.

Tech:

This week I am ahead in my lego class so I have been working on doing different lego combinations.  I have been building with my younger brother different boats and cars and want to try and figure out how to make them go.

P.E.:

Since the weather has been cold we went to a gym to practice.  We set up goals so I could have a game with some friends.  We practiced some drills and did some games.
