Week #18

Learning Log for Week of January 18th - January 22nd

My favorite thing this week was the report I did on duck bill platypus.

Homeroom:

This week for homeroom I worked on khan academy and brain pop junior.  I worked on my math mission and looked at the art history in Khan Academy. The Art History was on Mesopotamian Art, I watched two videos and took a quiz on it.

Math:

This week in Math I finished my Lesson #28  and took my test.  I am getting excited to finish Beta so I can start on my gamma level.  Khan Academy is fun to do too.

English/Language Arts:

We are still working on our unit on Little House in the Big Woods.  We read about two bears story where Laura used a lantern to go out to the barn with her Ma.  So we made homemade lanterns.  We took old cans and then we drew a pattern and then put it on the can and drilled holes in the tin for the light to come through.  We learned about the literary elements of setting, plot, theme, characters, and style.

Science:

This week in science we are still learning about vertebrates.  We learned about the Komodo Dragon and how it is the worlds largest lizard.  We also learned that it is endangered.  I then did a report on an animal that is or was on the endangered list.  I choose the maned the duck billed platypus.  I learned that they live in Australia and that they have the bill of a duck, the tail of a beaver, and the feet of the otter.  It is a really cool animal.

History/Geography:

In History we learned more about our Egypt Unit and about Egyptian Mythology.  One of my favorite myths was how we got 365 days.  In Geography we are learning about Asia and we starting learning about lithospheres.  I am doing a geography report on South Korea, so I worked on my map to show the different elements on the land of South Korea.

Tech:

In my robotics class I have been working on trying different ideas with my robotic projects.  My friend George staring taking the class so I have been talking with him about it and showing him the different things you can do. We want to work on a project together and come up with a new robot and idea.

P.E.

My soccer workshops are still over so I have been practicing on my own. My dad takes us to different places that are open, like our church building where I can practice.  It is fun and my little brother comes with us.
