Week #9

Learning Log for Week of October 26th - October 30th

My favorite thing this week was starting my Khan Academy Account.

Homeroom:

This week for homeroom I set up my account with Khan Academy. I did the math section, it is really fun and you can have your own avatar. I like how you can do math, reading, and science.  My goal is to get 10,000 points so I can change my avatar.

Math:
This week in Math I I finished my Lesson # 17 from Math-U-See.  It was on rounding the 1,000's place.  It was hard because you have more numbers to look at.

English/Language Arts:

This week I kept reading my book, Who is Abraham Lincoln. I liked learning about the civil war. My mom is also looking into different language curriculum programs to help me with my reading, so I am excited to start a new program.

Science:

This week our science experiment was "The Five Senses." We took three bowls of water: one hot, one room temperature, and one cold.  We put one hand in the hot water bowl and the other in the cold water bowl and we had to keep our hands in the water for 30 seconds.  Then after the 30 seconds, we put our hands in the room temperature water bowl.  The hand that was in the hot bowl felt the room temperature water was cold and the hand that had been in the cold water bowl felt the room temperature water was warm.  I learned that how we perceive things is effected by our environment. And that our different senses are amazing and help us live in our world.

Tech:

This week for my Robotics Class, I started building my goal keeper.  This was the one I wanted to do the most because I like being the soccer goalie position.  For Halloween I dressed up like a Brazilian goal keeper.  I am going to finish next week and see what kinds of things it can kick.

P.E.:

This week in soccer we had our last Soccer game of the season.  We had two players that were gone, so we had a smaller team and I had to run around a lot.  We lost our game, but it was really close and we tried really hard.  Our season is over, but I get to start indoor winter practice next week.
