Week #11

Learning Log for Week of November 9th - November 13th

My favorite thing this week was going on another field trip to

the Children's Curiosity Museum and this time we took our friends with us.

The Rainforest is my favorite part.

Homeroom:

This week for homeroom I worked on brain pop junior. I learned about subtraction, addition, and measuring. I took quizzes on the measurements.  I also learned about patterns and took the quizzes.

Math:

This week in Math I I finished my Lesson # 19 and took my test from Math-U-See.  It was Multiple-Digit Column Addition. I was sort of upset cause it was hard, but I got through it. I feel like it's good to learn about math so you can know what to do when you are a dad and in college, it was just hard.  I also helped my mom bake ginger molasses cookies and I got to read the recipe and figure out the measurements for the cookies.

English/Language Arts:

I started a new book Who is Jackie Robinson.. Some of my favorite things about Jackie Robinson was that he really liked all sports and he could play all sports. His older brother did track and field and so did Jackie. When Jackie would get passed by other runners, he would kept going because he knew he needed to keep going and that he might still be able to win. He was a good competitor, he was nice, kind, friendly, and sometimes he was funny.  Jackie was also shy. He wanted to compete in the 1942 Summer Olympics, but because of WWII he wasn't able to compete. He ended up signing up to be in the US army.

Science:

This week our science experiment was a homemade volcano. We put baking soda, dish soap, and the water in a cup.  There was no reaction when we added these ingredients together.  But when we added the vinegar it made it erupt.  Then we watched a video about volcanos in Hawaii. We made our lava orange like the volcanos in Hawaii.

Tech:

I was excited to build lots of my projects.  So the first project I did was my flying bird.  Then I built my goal kicker and I tried different things that it could kick.  Then I built my goal keeper, which is my favorite project so far.  He is cool cause he can block stuff and I can stand him up or put him on his side.  At first I made him so he couldn't move a lot and then I added more legos to make him be able to go even further.

P.E.:

This week in soccer we had our indoor soccer practice.  We learned some new moves.  One of them is when someone is bringing the ball to you, from the opposite team, you stop the ball with your foot, then you put your foot on top of it and kick the ball a little bit behind you and turn the ball and start going the other way to make a goal.
