Learning Log for Week of October 12th - October 16th
My favorite thing this week was learning about Abraham Lincoln.
This week for homeroom I did BrainPop with my sister. We learned about data and probability. I learned about line graphs and how you can show data. I also learned about how probability work and then we solved problems. We also learned about width, length, and other measurements.
Math:
This week in Math I I finished my Lesson #14 and Lesson #15 in my Math-U-See. They teach about measuring with feet, I learned that there are 12" in a foot. Then I got to learn about perimeter. I liked using my ruler to solve some of the problems on my worksheets.
English/Language Arts:
This week I got a new book from the Library called, Who is Abraham Lincoln. I learned that Abraham was a funny guy who liked to play jokes. One of his jokes he played was on two men who were getting married on the same day, he arranged for the men to be driven to the other church. Abraham Lincoln did not like slavery.
Science:
This week my family and I got a book called, The Everything Kids Science Experiments Book, and each week we are going to do an experiment from the book. This week we did the experiment "Animal Camouflage." We got 3 different pieces of colored paper and cut them out in tiny squares and them put them on a piece of paper that was one of the 3 colors we cut out. We then timed how many squares we could pick up in 7 seconds. My sister got 10 squares and I got 9 squares. We found out that animals that are colored the same as their environment are protected from predators. My dad showed us his camouflage military uniform he got from my uncle who is in the army. We also looked at pictures and watched a video on animals that camouflage in their environment, my favorite was the scorpion fish.
Tech:
This week I finished my lion. I like it because it is like the lions on Gorongosa Park. It can roar and stand up.
P.E.:
I had just one soccer practice this week because of fall break. But I got some neighbor friends and we went and played soccer a couple of times at the park. I practiced on my dribbling.
